Elliott West

Bio

Elliott West (They/ Them), 21, born Louisville Ky. Attending college at NAU studying Printmaking, co-founder of the Flounder House Collective.

Artist Statement

"I drew the figure first, and as they kept appearing in my art I began to look more and more like them." Self exploration is at the heart of West's work. They connect their experiences as a queer person to their fascinations with dark places, the deep sea and the body to produce personal and dramatic pieces. West's primary inspirations come from works like Peter Behrens' "The Kiss", Edward Hopper's "Evening Wind", classical scientific illustrations, as well as many contemporary artists like Gabe Cortese and Rebecca Guay.
