Locked Up: Pain and Resilience

Featuring work by incarcerated artists, this exhibit celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the power of art to comfort, heal, and rehabilitate.

First Friday ArtWalk & Opening Reception – October 4, 6 — 8:30 PM

• 6PM: Music by Jesse Anderson. Refreshments served. |

• 7PM: “Mass Incarceration: Racial Justice and the Bordering of Citizenship” – an illustrated presentation by Professor Nancy Wonders, PhD, Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice, NAU.

First Friday ArtWalk — November 1, 6—8:30PM

• 6PM: Music by Brad and Deb. Refreshments served.

• 7PM: “People Not Prisons” – with Khalil Rushdan, featuring stories by representatives of the ACLU Smart Justice Campaign, the Justice Project at ASU, and Arizona Faith Network.

• 6PM: Music by Shawn Dennehy and Matt Sarnoski. Refreshments served.

• 7PM: “Justice in Coconino County “ – an expert panel discussion with: Jim Driscoll, Coconino County Sheriff | The Hon. Fanny Steinlage, Superior Court Division VI, Mental Health Court Sixto Valdivia, Recovery Court Coordinator | Jim Bret, Detention Center Program Manager, Michael Vaughn, Exodus Program Counselor
