Chelsea Begoody

Bio: Chelsie Begoody is Tsénahabiłnii (sleepyrock) born for Tsénijikini (honeycomb rock), her maternal grandfather is of the Ashįįh (salt) clan, and her paternal grandfather is of the Tábaahá (waters edge) clan. She is a Diné woman born and raised in Northern Arizona.

Artist statement: I consider myself an emerging artist who has been creating acrylic on canvas pieces for the past five years. From childhood doodles to present day paintings, graphic illustrations, and murals, I continue to challenge myself and grow with each piece I create.

Much of my work centers Indigenous youth because they are like little medicine people who offer joy and healing to our lives. Whether it's kids or elders who view my work, I hope it evokes feelings of empowerment and k'é, which is the relationships we hold with ourselves, with one another, and with the universe.
