EMILY WILSON-SEBASTIAN & FAERYN

Bio: I graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s in fine arts in 2002, and from Naropa University with a Masters in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy in 2014.  My work has been shown in galleries in Ohio, Arizona and Colorado.  As an art therapist and counselor for over 13 years, I understand the sacredness of being with someone in their sorrow, their joy, and their own personal journey of healing.  I feel honored to hold space for it all, and I feel honored that art holds space for me.  

Artist Statement: The interconnection of all: nature on earth and of the ethers, energy seen and unseen, darkness and light, inner and outer universes, and all things transpersonal informs my work.  Art has been a consistent companion throughout my life.  It has helped me to move through transitions and difficult seasons, as well as honor periods of illumination.  I create for myself, and I create to process the pain and the resilience of my clients.  Some days it is a quick sketch or a note for my kid’s lunches, and other days I can weave in ritual, painting, sewing, clay.  Whatever the manifestation, creating brings connection to something greater.

Sebastian Popescu

Bio: I’m Sebastian. I’m 10 years old and I’m a fifth grader. I’ve been doing art since I was 1 when I made my mom a painted pottery mug. I like art because it’s cool.

Artist Statement: My piece is about how the solar system relates to mental illness. Earth is our planet and we need to take care of it, just like we need to take care of ourselves. Sometimes it’s better to think about what you should be doing instead of what you are doing.

Faeryn Popescu

Bio: My name is Faeryn and I’ve been doing art all my life. I am seven years old. The things I love about Art is it makes me very calm and happy.  My favorite kind of art is the art that makes you happy and art that makes you feel warm, loving, and close to someone. 

Artist Statement: My art piece is about my future and my loved ones. It is called “Me and my baby.” I really hope you like my art piece.
